CAC Pastor asks court to end his 32-year-old marriage

A 62-year-old man, Pastor Emmanuel Ojo, on Friday begged an Akure Chief Customary Court to put an end to the 32-year-old marriage between him and his wife, Victoria.

The pastor had filed a divorce petition against his 56-year-old wife praying the court to dissolve the marriage.

Ojo told the court that his wife had abandoned her matrimonial home since 2010, adding that there was no more love between them.

The Christ Apostolic Church (CAC) pastor complained that his wife was too quarrelsome, and was in the habit of raining curses on him whenever there were disagreements between them.

He told the court that because of her behaviour, he had attempted suicide three times in the past, adding that he was tired of her as she was too hot tempered.

The marriage is blessed with four children, Oluwaseyi Ojo, 32, Bankole Ojo, 30, Ayotunde Ojo, 27 and a Oluwabanke Ojo, 24.

Ojo told the court how he used to prostrate for his wife and beg her just for peace to reign in the house anytime she started fighting him.

According to the pastor, his wife’s behaviour had affected his pastoral duties and had caused him to break the vow he made with God.

He said he had vowed before God not to have any affairs with another woman, but since his wife had abandoned him he had broken the vow.

Ojo lamented that since he cannot continue to live alone, cook for himself and nobody to care for him when he was ill; he had to take another wife.

The pastor said that as a servant of God, he would not accept his wife back even if she wished to return because he could not have two wives.

In her defence Victoria said that her husband had been very unfaithful to her since their marriage.

She said that her husband never told her he had other children outside the marriage, adding that her husband deceived her for close to 20 years before she knew the truth.

Victoria told the court that unknown to her, the pastor already had two wives before they were married, adding that each time she inquired about the wives and the children, he always denied it.

She said her husband never gave her any money for toiletries, adding that she never complained as she endured it because she was convinced of a better tomorrow.

She said that before she married her husband, he was a socialite, who could finish a carton of beer at a sitting, adding that she went into serious fasting and prayers before he could stop drinking.

Victoria, who said she loved her husband then, added that the pastor was too secretive and never discussed any issue with her.

She told the court that she gave her husband N50,000 when he started his church project, and said that she had incurred a lot of debt because of his actions.

She prayed the court to dissolve the marriage for the two of them to go their separate ways.

President of the court, Chief Joshua Omofaye, later adjourned the matter to Oct. 11, for judgment. (NAN)

‎ OMG!! Man jumps out of his Range Rover, strips himself naked

The man in the picture jumped down from his Range Rover and stripped naked and within a few minutes he was defecating in his hands and chasing people with it.

People who gathered at the scene said the man was uttering incomprehensible things and displaying other forms of lunacy.

Though the cause of the man’s action could not be ascertained immediately, people that witnessed the scene this morning around Balogun, Ikeja said a possibility of three things could be going on here.

According to one of the crowd, it is either the people he used for rituals have started tormenting him, or the Head of d Ogboni that he belongs to is after him as a result of non compliance. Or a very jealous and vicious friend or family member has directed some evil forces to him.

Hmnnn! in any case, a lot are happening!!!

Could This Man Really Be The Face of Lagbaja?

Lagbaja's face has finally been revealed. The story and the picture above flooded the Internet few days ago.

Since the early 90's, Bisade “Lagbaja” Ologunde has managed to keep his face well hidden behind a mask – many of us pondered the mystery, the reason behind such an enigma hiding his identity.

Is he handsome? Not good looking? Or is the invincibility the source of his musical prowess?

The questions were just not going to stop.

According to Lagbaja, his mask is used as an icon of man’s facelessness. Lagbaja is a Yoruba word that means “nobody in particular”.

It depicts the anonymity of the so-called “common man”. The mask and the name symbolize the faceless, the voiceless in the society, particularly in Africa.

But it seems we all have our curiousity chilled up as a picture alleged to be Lagbaja's with his face left unmaked leaked on the Internet few days ago.

Stories from grapevine  said on Saturday, September 29 2012, Lagbaja’s Omole Estate, Lagos home was visited by men of the underworld and valuables worth millions of naira was carted away in the process, perhaps, pictures showing his face too?

However, there are reports that Lagbaja has refuted the pix going around as his real face.

It is however hard to ignore the striking similarities between this face and the masked one especially the lips, eyes and shape of chin.

BREAKING NEWS!!! Gunmen Kill over 40 Students Of Federal Polytechnic In Mubi Adamawa State

Unidentified gunmen have invaded a place in Mubi Adamawa state close to the Federal Polytechnic killing several students in an off-campus accommodation.

Emergency workers said they have mobilized several agencies to the area to carry out search and rescue operation.

The attack reportedly took place on Monday night at Wuro Patuji, an area with lots off –campus apartment housing for students of the polytechnic.

Though some residents put the number of victims at 35 persons, unconfirmed reports say the number of those who have lost their lives is over 40.

The dead and injured persons are mostly students of the polytechnic.

The school have not issued any official reaction to the attack.

It would be recalled that residents of Mubi have reeling from the imposition of a dusk to dawn curfew as security agents comb the town and surrounding locations for terrorists believed to be hiding in the area.

Mubi is one of the suspected hiding spots for Islamist extremists whose bomb attacks on churches, public places and Northern bureaucrats as well as political figures have besieged Nigeria’s north-east region.

A source who is a security agent disclosed that Mubi had been plagued by serial killings in the past one week. “These killings and other nefarious activities imminently prove that some terrorists are indeed hiding out in the area,” said the source.

He revealed that security agents received intelligence reports that necessitated the current sweeping search operations in the area. One resident of Mubi reported that sporadic gunshots were heard in the town, forcing people to remain home.

Another resident described a frenzied atmosphere in the town, adding that he and his neighbors steered clear of streets for fear of the unknown.

Neither the state government nor the military command has issued an official statement disclosing the reasons for the curfew.

I want to marry My Mother - true story from Zimbabwe

A Zimbabwean woman and her son have done the unthinkable – they have fallen in love with one another.

And now they want to marry since the mom, Betty Mbereko from Mwenezi in Masvingo, is six months pregnant and expecting her son’s child.

Mbereko (40), who was widowed 12 years ago, has been cohabiting with her first child, Farai Mbereko (23).

She confirms that she is six months pregnant and that she has decided it is better to “marry” her son because she does not want to marry her late husband’s young brothers, whom she says are coveting her.

Betty stunned a village court last week when she said the affair with her son had begun three years earlier.

She said after spending a lot of money sending Farai to school following the death of her husband, she felt

she had a right to his money and no other woman was entitled to it.

“Look, I strove alone to send my son to school and no one helped me. Now you see that my son is working and you accuse me of doing something wrong. “Let me enjoy the products of my sweat,” she told the village court.

Farai said he was more than prepared to marry his mother and would pay off the ilobola balance his father had left unpaid to his grandparents.

“I know my father died before he finished paying the bride price and I am prepared to pay it off,” he said.

“It is better to publicise what is happening because people should know that I am the one who made my mother pregnant. Otherwise they will accuse her of promiscuity.”

But local headman Nathan Muputirwa says: “We cannot allow this to happen in our village, mashura chaiwo aya, (This is a bad omen indeed). In the past they would have to be killed but today we cannot do it because we are afraid of the police.” He warned them to break off their marriage or leave his village.

They chose the latter and have left the village for an unknown destination.

‘My wife flirts around with okada men’

A housewife, Adenike Nasirudeen, who filed a divorce suit at the Grade ‘A’ Customary Court, Lagos State asking for dissolution of her six -year-old marriage to her husband, Fatai Nasirudeen got more than she bargained for when her husband told the court that she  flirts around with okada men.

In the suit, Adenike alleged that her husband had been mistreating her for some time now and that he was too temperamental.

In his own response, the respondent told the court: “She is a flirt. She has been flirting around with an okada rider (commercial motorcyclist). She always keep late nights and she did not give me peace of mind.

“Though, l reported the matter to her parents hoping that she would turn a new leaf, but she does not show any sign of remorse”.

Earlier in her submission, Adenike informed that her husband is highly temperamental, and beats her at any slightest provocation.

“There was a day he accused me of stealing N75,000 from his wardrobe, he capitalised on the accusation, and stopped giving me feeding allowance”.

Adenike, however denied having any no amorous relationship with any okada rider because he is well known to her husband and had once taken her and Nasirudeen to their office.

“Shortly after l packed out of his house, he came to apologise, hoping that he had had a change of mind, but unknown to me that he was there on a mission to kill the only child that binds us together”.

She added that her husband had made attempts to strangle their daughter to death, and in the process, to get the child for him he punches her in the stomach.

She therefore urged the court to dissolve the marriage and grant her custody of the child.

The court president, Mr. Emmaunel Shokunle has adjourned the case till October 9, 2012 for further hearing.

Jonathan forms new Special Force battalion to boost Aso Rock's security

President Goodluck Jonathan has officially consecrated a newly formed 176 Special Force battalion, to join the existing 177 and 7 battalions of the presidential guards brigade.

He performed the ceremony during the presidential change of guards by Guards Brigade to mark Nigeria’s 52nd independence anniversary.

The guards brigade is a special unit of the military that oversees the security of the President and Aso Rock. The ceremony took place at the fore-court of the Presidential Villa.

Minister of State for Defence, Erelu Olusola Obada, told State House correspondents that the newly-established 176 battalion was to strengthen the brigade and to make it more effective in response to security challenges in and around the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

Obada said the ceremonial presentation of colours to the newly-formed battalion was symbolic and could only be done by the President and the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces.

The special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Dr. Reuben Abati, also said the ceremony was special and grand in marking the independence of a nation.

Abati said this year’s anniversary, like that of 2011, was low-keyed to save cost and adequately prepare for the big event of 2014 when the nation would mark 100 years of existence from the amalgamation of 1914.

He debunked claims in certain quarters that the event was moved to the Villa for security reasons.

“The anniversary is also low-keyed this year, taking place within the precincts of the State House. President Jonathan has personally responded to the allegation that the event is being held within the State House by making it clear that in 2014, we will have a big event; the centenary of Nigeria’s celebration, since amalgamation.

“A few years ago, we had the 50th anniversary of Nigeria’s independence and that was a big event. The President’s take on this, is that between that 50th year anniversary and the centenary of Nigeria’s amalgamation, we should have low-keyed celebration. Those who are looking for celebration on a grand scale should wait till 2014 when we will have the 100 years of Nigeria’s amalgamation,” he said.

The 52nd anniversary was marked with a ceremonial change of guards by the outgoing and incoming quarter and guard brigade.

There were also parades and military displays by the Nigerian Army Brigade of Guards, inspection of fitness and weapons, a symbolic colour-parade as well as band parade in different military tunes and melody.

The president was assisted by the Chief of Defence Staff, Air Chief Marshal Oluseyi Petinrin, service chiefs and heads of other para-military agencies to release the pigeons, which signified the unfettered peace and harmony of the nation.

President Jonathan also signed the anniversary register and cut an anniversary cake baked in national colours. Present at ceremony were Vice President Namadi Sambo, Senate President David Mark, his deputy, Sen. Ike Ekweremadu, and the Deputy Speaker, House of Representatives, Hon. Emeka Ihedioha.
The Chief Justice of Nigeria, Justice Aloma Mukhtar, led other justices and heads of court to the event. Also in attendance were former Head of State, Gen. Yakubu Gowon, ministers, presidential aides, members of the Diplomatic Corps, the business community, representatives of religious leaders and traditional rulers.
