CERTIFICATE SAGA: Jonathan threatens to sack Jega

With the reality dawning on President Goodluck Jonathan that he may lose the February 14 presidential polls, the incumbent and PDP candidate has indicated that he was considering voicing a vote of no confidence on the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

Evidence of Mr. Jonathan’s jittery and his latest strategy emerged in a statement released by Femi Fani-Kayode, the director of media and publicity for the PDP presidential campaign organization.

Soludo, embittered, worst CBN governor in search of relevance, says Okonjo-Iweala

For daring to score President Goodluck Jonathan’s economic policies very low, Minister of Finance, Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala has described the former Central Bank of Nigeria Governor, Professor Charles Soludo as embittered loser who is in search of power and relevance.

It would be recalled that Soludo in his submission titled: “Buhari Vs Jonathan: Beyond the Election” told President Goodluck Jonathan not to campaign on his six years record in office as he had failed Nigerians particularly in the management of the economy.

President Goodluck Jonathan has promised that the leadership of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) would resolve the differences between Olusegun Mimiko, governor of Ondo state, former PDP governorship candidate in the state, Olusola Oke as well as Jimoh Ibrahim, a top businessman who hails from the state.

Jonathan made the promise on Wednesday in Akure during the PDP presidential campaign rally.

Jonathan  said that the Federal Government would be able to work with leaders to bring the dividends of democracy to the state if only they consider the interests of the state.

Buhari pledges to tackle insecurity, promote agriculture if elected President

The Presidential Candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Gen. Muhammad Buhari (rtd), on Wednesday pledged to tackle insurgency and corruption, if elected president in the Feb. 14 presidential election.

Buhari gave the commitment during the party’s presidential rally in Jalingo.

NNPC releases 1,500 trucks of kerosene to be sold at N50 per litre

The Media Officer of the Port Harcourt Refining Petroleum Company Ltd., Mr Ikenna Okpani,  has disclosed that  that the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) has released 1,500 trucks of kerosene to the public.

Okpani said this at the inauguration of the ``Kero-Correct’’ campaign in Calabar.

Muna Obiekwe to be buried on Feb. 3

The late Nollywood thespian, Muna Obiekwe, who died on Jan.18 from a kidney related ailment is to be buried on Tuesday, Feb.3.

Court dissolves marriage over change of Church

A Yaba Customary Court on Thursday dissolved a seven-year-old marriage between one Okechukwu Ikechukwu and his wife, Nkechi, for alleged change of Church, threats to life and irreconcilable differences.

The President of the Church, Chief Rahim Dawodu, in his judgment, dissolved the marriage and warned them to let peace reign.

5,000 PDP members defect to APC in Kaduna

Alhaji Abubakar Rilwanu, Vice Chairman (one) of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for Kaduna North Senatorial District, says more than 5,000 members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) have defected to the APC in the area.

Rilwanu disclosed this in an interview with NAN on Wednesday in Zaria, Kaduna State.

Rilwanu, who is also the party’s Zonal Chairman for Kaduna North senatorial district, said the defectors had formally joined the APC during the gubernatorial campaign rally in the zone which ended on Monday.

Atiku shames Fani-Kayode, as he makes first appearance at Buhari rally

After about two years of irreconcilable differences orchestrated by the husband’s excessive alcoholism and hemp smoking, a Lagos court on Tuesday dissolved the marriage between Segun Falaye and his wife, Celestina.

Court dissolves pastor's 18-year-old marriage over infidelity

An Igando Customary Court in Lagos has dissolved the 18-year-old marriage of Pastor Chris Maku and Augusta, on grounds of infidelity.

Maku, 45, told the court that his estranged wife, Augusta, slept with her lover in their matrimonial home, got pregnant and thereafter packed out of the house.

Nigeria’s problems cannot be fixed in four years – Jonathan

President Goodluck Jonathan has said that there is no government that can solve problems of a nation within four years.

The president stated this on Monday when he paid a courtesy call on the Emir of Ilorin, Alhaji Ibrahim Sulu Gambari as part of his ongoing re-election campaign.

The controversy over General Muhamed Buhari’s certificate seems not to be dying away as an Abuja-based lawyer, Mr. Chike Okafor, has asked the Federal High Court to disqualify him from contesting the 2015 presidential elections.

The case with Suit No. FHC/ABJ/CS/01/2015 is based on Section 131 of the Constitution which prescribes a minimum qualification for nomination to participate in presidential elections and Section 31 of the Electoral Act that stipulates that all presidential candidates should depose to an affidavit in proof of compliance with constitutional requirement to be president of Nigeria.

We must judge Buhari with his past – Sen Obanikoro

APC alleges fresh plot to scuttle Feb elections

The All Progressives Congress has said it has uncovered a fresh plot by those it called anti-democratic forces to use the courts to postpone or scuttle next month’s general elections.

APC called on the judiciary to protect the nation’s democracy, urging Nigerians to “repudiate the desperadoes” and their allies who are behind the plot.

The  Muslim Rights Concern (MURIC) says the call by the National Security Adviser, Sambo Dasuki, for postponement of the February election, is a ploy for military, “allies of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), to take over power.“

MURIC, while rejecting the request, which it described as “diversionary and unpatriotic”, alleged that the whole idea of a possible postponement smacks of moral debauchery.

Vivian told the court that her husband, Carlo Camillo, 31, abandoned her since she got pregnant.
She alleged that her husband usually beats her, even when she was pregnant.

Forbes an American magazine has published the list of the 10 richest black men in the world for 2015 with Aliko Dangote in the first position.

In its latest edition dated Jan 24, the magazine said that with asset worth 21.6 billion dollars, Dangote is not only the richest man in Africa, but also the richest black man in the world.
