Tinubu didn’t impose Lawan, Gbajabiamila on APC – Boroffice

The  Senator representing Ondo North Senatorial District, Robert Boroffice, on Tuesday clarified that the National Leader of the All Progressives Congress,  Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, did not impose Senator Ahmad Lawan and Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila, as consensus candidates of the party for the National Assembly leadership positions.

There was a general  outcry among some federal lawmakers over the roles played by Tinubu, towards the inauguration of the eight National Assembly when the election into the office of the Senate President; his deputy; Speaker of the House of Representatives and his deputy, were conducted.

APC’s claims on transition committee diversionary, says PDP

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has described as diversionary and unnecessary claims by the All Progressives Congress (APC) that it is not cooperating with the Presidency in the transition process.

This is contained in a statement issued by Mr Olisa Metuh, PDP National Publicity, in Abuja on Friday.

Metuh charged the APC to put its house in order, come straight and tell the nation the confusion in its camp instead of trying to shift blames.

Jonathan, Buhari set to clash as APC, Falana reject May 28 handover date

There are indications that the All Progressives Congress is uncomfortable with the May 28 handover date proposed by the out-going administration.

Investigation has revealed that the outgoing President Goodluck Jonathan and the President-elect, Gen. Muhammadu Buhari (retd.) are set to clash over a proposal by the Jonathan team to hand over the mantle of leadership to Buhari on May the 28th, instead of the 29th.

PDP accuses APC of planting moles to destabilise it

The Peoples Democratic (PDP), on Wednesday in Abuja alleged that the All Progressives Congress (APC) was trying to destabilise it by planting moles within its fold.

Mr Olisa Metuh, the party`s National Publicity Secretary, stated this while speaking with journalists at the end of the party`s National Working Committee (NWC) meeting.

The meeting was the first after it lost the presidential election to the APC.

``We have noted that while some members had left our party, others have been asked to remain to cause disaffection and disharmony to destroy the spirit of unity in the party,’’ Metuh said.

PDP state assembly candidate in Yobe defect to APC

Less than 24 hours to the governorship and state assembly elections, a People’s Democratic Party (PDP) House of Assembly candidate in Yobe, Alhaji Zanna Danani, on Friday dropped his election bid and defected to the APC.

Zanna, who defected along with several other chieftains of PDP to APC, told newsmen in Damaturu that the action was to enable them join the mainstream of the political development of the country.

APC panicking over Agbaje’s chances of winning Lagos Guber poll – Fani-Kayode

Director of Media and Publicity of the Peoples Democratic Party Presidential Campaign Organisation, Chief Femi Fani-Kayode, has faulted the allegations by the All Progressives Congress that President Goodluck Jonathan has strategised to rig Saturday governorship election in Lagos State in favour of PDP candidate, Mr Jimi Agbaje.

He said the APC is in panic mode “because it knows that Agbaje is going to win the election.”

Fani-Kayode, in a statement on Friday in Abuja, said this was the first time in 16 years that the APC, together with the opposition tendencies it represents, was facing a formidable challenge from a governorship candidate of the PDP in the state.

He said, “It is not true that the President has any rigging plan for Lagos and neither do we need any such plan because our party is very strong there.

The All Progressives Congress has raised the alarm over President Goodluck Jonathan’s unannounced visit to Lagos State a day to the governorship election.

National Publicity Secretary of the APC, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, in a statement, wondered why Jonathan arrived in Lagos late on Thursday.

He said Jonathan had a closed-door meeting with the Peoples Democratic Party governorship candidate, Mr. Jimi Agbaje; the Minister of State for Foreign Affairs II, Musiliu Obanikoro; and the National Coordinator of the Oodua Peoples Congress, Gani Adams.

Mohammed alleged that the meeting was obviously to strategise on how to manipulate the polls.

He said Jonathan was using the general perception, that he is a ‘good sportsman’, to deceive Nigerians.

Oba Akiolu’s threat: Will APC’s apology save Ambode?

In order to calm frayed nerves, shortly after Oba Rilwan Akiolu’s alleged threat to the Igbo in Lagos, the All Progressives Congress, APC in the State apologised to Igbo in the state over the statement credited to the traditional ruler last Sunday. It is yet to be seen whether the Igbo will bury the hatchet and cast their votes according to their conscience before the alleged Oba’s threat or cast a protest vote against the ruling party in today’s election.

Akiolu allegedly threatened that Igbo would drown in Lagos Lagoon within seven days if they failed to vote for the All Progressives Congress (APC) Governorship Candidate, Mr Akinwunmi Ambode in today’s election. Since then, outrage, anger and wide condemnation have been trailing the Oba’s statement. The Oba, hitherto, had been visibly partisan in the run-off to the election.

In spite of the palace clarification in a statement signed by Opeluwa of Lagos, Lateef Aderibigbe Ajose, saying that the Lagos monarch was misquoted and had no grouse with non-indigenes in the state and that he remained father of all Lagos residents, the party observed that the development may have a catastrophic impact on the chances of the ruling party. The Oba’s remarks when some Igbo residing in Lagos paid him a courtesy call has gone viral in the social media. A few days ago, the party had to tender apology to the teeming Igbo residents in the state, pleading for forgiveness.

APC blasts Alao-Akala over “Sai Buhari-Sai Akala” posters

The All Progressives Congress in Oyo State has taken a swipe at the gubernatorial candidate of the Labour Party, Adebayo Alao-Akala, over the circulation of posters bearing pictures of the former governor and the President-Elect, Muhammadu Buhari, apparently, to gain sympathy from the electorate ahead of next week’s governorship election in the state.

Campaign posters bearing the pictures of Messrs Buhari and Alao-Akala with “Sai Buhari, Sai Akala” boldly written on them have flooded particularly Ibadan, the Oyo State capital.

It is quite not understandable if the Governor of Ekiti State, Ayodele Fayose is still not relenting in beating the drum of war especially against the opposition party in the state, the All Progressives Congress, APC. 

In what looked like a renewed war against the opposition, crisis returned to the state on Wednesday as gunmen attacked the APC Secretariat and jubilant members of the party.

The APC members had just returned from the streets of Ado Ekiti where they had gone to celebrate the victory of the APC candidate, Maj. Gen. Muhammadu Buhari (retd.), in the Saturday’s Presidential election.

The state Publicity Secretary, Taiwo Olatubosun, who addressed journalists in Ado Ekiti after the attack, said the gunmen came in three Hilux vans with Government House number plates with three men in Police uniform sitting in the front.

Some heavyweight politicians lost their polling units in yesterday’s elections.


A major loss by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) is the one at the two polling units in front of Aso Villa – the Presidential abode.


The All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate Gen. Muhammadu Buhari won in the two units.
Buhari got a total of 613 votes, while Jonathan polled a total of 595 votes.


Vice President Namadi Sambo got the same treatment in the former polling unit (Kabala 005) in Kaduna where the APC received overwhelming majority of votes.


The APC scored 386 votes to beat the PDP that scored 53 votes in the presidential election. APC got 385 and 369 votes in the senate and house of assembly elections respectively while the PDP got 59 and 62 respectively.
The results were announced by the presiding officer Abdulfatah Ali.


In Lagos State Governorship candidate Jimi Agbaje’s Apapa polling unit the APC won 126 votes while PDP won 60.

Gbemi Saraki, Jimoh Ibarahim dump PDP for APC

Few hours to the Presidential and National Assembly elections, a chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party, Senator Gbemi Saraki, has dumped the party.

Saraki, on Friday, announced her intention to her numerous supporters and her decision to join the opposition All Progressives Congress.

NCC appeals against court's order to pay N500million damages to APC

Dissatisfied by the ruling of Justice Ibrahim Buba of the Federal High Court, Lagos that the Nigerian Commissions Commission (NCC) should pay the sum  of N500million as damages to All Progressive Congress (APC), counsel to the NCC, Mr. Paul  Usoro (SAN), has gone to the court of Appeal to appeal against  the judgment.

Citing eight grounds for the appeal, the  counsel said he has the mandate of his client, the NCC to appeal against the entire judgment.

The  Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN) averred that the trial judge erred in law when he dismissed the Appellant’s Notice of Preliminary Objection of March 2, 2015, which challenged the competence of the suit on the grounds that same was unmeritorious;


He also said on ground two that the learned Trial Judge erred in law when he held that the suit of the APC disclosed cause of action against the applicant.

 Usoro, in the notice of appeal, noted that the trial court misdirected itself in law and fact when it held that the suit as constituted fell under the context of chapter IV of the constitution of the federal republic of Nigeria 1999 as amended and not rooted in contract.


He explained in the notice of appeal that the trial court erred in law and occasioned grave miscarriage of justice when it held that the first respondent has seemingly complained of discrimination by the appellant.


 The notice of appeal also said the learned trial judge erred in law when he held that the appellant has indeed discriminated against the 1st respondent when it granted the Goodluck/Sambo Presidential Campaign Organization in 2011, the right to use short codes and did not allow the first respondent same right in 2015.


Part of the notice of appeal is that the trial judge erred in law when it invalidated the appellants’ directive contained in its letter of January 19, 2015.


 Usoro said in the NCC appeal that the learned trial judge misdirected itself in law and on facts when it awarded N500 million as damages and compensation for 1st respondent.


That the judgment is against the weight of evidence and submissions before the trial court is a very good ground for its appeal.


 The appeal filed on Tuesday march 24, 2015 at the court of appeal, Lagos seeks an order of the court of appeal allowing the appeal and setting aside in its entirety the judgment of the trial judge made on march 24, 2015 including the monetary damages of N500million awarded in favour of 1st respondent.

Disqualification of Buhari from election portends great danger – APC

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has warned against any orchestrated, last-minute disqualification of its presidential candidate, Gen. Muhammadu, in order to pave the way for an easy

victory for President Goodluck Jonathan or even another postponement of the elections

”If it is true, as it is being widely speculated across the country, that the Jonathan Administration has procured a judgement to disqualify the APC Presidential Candidate on Wednesday, when the Federal High Court in Abuja is expected to rule on the issue, then itportends a great danger for our country,” the party warned in a statement issued in Abuja on Tuesday by its National Publicity Secretary, Alhaji Lai Mohammed.

APC plans to announce fake election result –PDP

The Peoples Democratic Party Presidential Campaign Organisation alleged on Friday that the All Progressives Congress was planning to announce fake presidential election results after the poll next week on Radio Chanji.

The Director of Media and Publicity of the campaign organisation, Chief Femi Fani-Kayode, who made the allegation at a news conference in Abuja, said available facts before the Federal Government indicated that the APC had a strong link with the broadcasting station.

Fani-Kayode further alleged that the APC would use the radio station being operated from outside Nigeria, to spread dangerous propaganda to cause chaos after the presidential poll next Saturday.

APC women protest attack on Buhari’s wife’s convoy

Hundreds of women of the All Progressives Congress in Kwara State on Wednesday protested against the attack on the convoy of Mr. Aishat Buhari, the wife of the APC presidential candidate. Maj. Gen. Muhammadu Buhari(retd.).

They also protested against the alleged attacks on some other women in the state.

Former Vice President and chieftain of the All progressives Congress (APC), Atiku Abubakar, has denied knowledge of the groups of politicians who announced their defection to the PDP from the APC.

Some groups, which claimed to be Atiku support groups, had defected to the Peoples Democratic Party on Tuesday.

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has asked President Goodluck Jonathan to apologise to Nigerians for the embarrassment that he has caused them over his phantom phone conversation with the King of Morocco.

‘’In our earlier statement on the issue, we gave President Jonathan the benefit of the doubt by asking him to clarify what happened, just as the Moroccan King has done. Instead, a loquacious spokesman for the President decided to abuse us. That tells us that, indeed, these people have something to hide over the phoney phone conversation,’’ the party said in a statement issued in Lagos yesterday by its National Publicity Secretary, Alhaji Lai Mohammed.
