Nigeria First Lady Arrives Abuja From Germany

Nigeria's First Lady, Dame Patience Faka Jonathan finally arrived at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport Abuja on an aircraft with registration number 5N-FGN, at exactly 4p.m. local time on Wednesday. She has been away for several weeks after being alleged to be seriously sick and admitted at a German Hospital.

While her exact diagnosis has not been confirmed by the presidency, Mrs. Jonathan, we learnt, will continue some of her treatment in Nigeria.

Since the First Lady was flown out of the country, suspicion has been rife among cynics; critics; unrelenting, self-appointed activists; idle and idling, twittering, collective children of anger; distracted crowd of Facebook addicts and the BBM-pinging soap opera gossips of Nigeria, that she was diagnosed of food poisoning.

Media sources within the presidency have been trying to find the right words to convince Nigerians that whatever may have been quoted to have happened were just silly rumours.

The report initially peddled was that the First Lady, having gone through the rigours of organising the Africa First Ladies Peace Mission in Abuja, needed to take a vacation. Many had felt there was nothing wrong in having a vacation after such a summit.

Tongues started to wag only when media aides said the choice place was in Germany. That, of course, triggered a lot of suspicions and probing.
