Disqualification of Buhari from election portends great danger – APC

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has warned against any orchestrated, last-minute disqualification of its presidential candidate, Gen. Muhammadu, in order to pave the way for an easy
victory for President Goodluck Jonathan or even another postponement of the elections

”If it is true, as it is being widely speculated across the country, that the Jonathan Administration has procured a judgement to disqualify the APC Presidential Candidate on Wednesday, when the Federal High Court in Abuja is expected to rule on the issue, then itportends a great danger for our country,” the party warned in a statement issued in Abuja on Tuesday by its National Publicity Secretary, Alhaji Lai Mohammed.

Lawyer drags Buhari to court, seeks his disqualification over certificate

The controversy over General Muhamed Buhari’s certificate seems not to be dying away as an Abuja-based lawyer, Mr. Chike Okafor, has asked the Federal High Court to disqualify him from contesting the 2015 presidential elections.

The case with Suit No. FHC/ABJ/CS/01/2015 is based on Section 131 of the Constitution which prescribes a minimum qualification for nomination to participate in presidential elections and Section 31 of the Electoral Act that stipulates that all presidential candidates should depose to an affidavit in proof of compliance with constitutional requirement to be president of Nigeria.
