Dangote Cement set to begin production in Tanzania

The sub-Saharan Africa's leading cement producer, Dangote Cement, says it will begin production of cement in Tanzania’s Mtwara region in August.

This is contained in a statement by the Office of Tanzania President Jakaya Kikwete on Monday in Dar es Salaam.

It said the date was announced at a meeting between President of Dangote Group, Aliko Dangote and Kikwete, over the weekend.

NIMC selects 6 firms for local production of e-ID

The Director General, National Identity Management Commission (NIMC), Mr Chris Onyemenam, said the commission has selected six firms for local production of the National e-ID Card.

Onyemenam, who stated this in Abuja, said the selection followed the final financial bid opening conducted by the commission.

He explained that the six firms, including Electronic Pay Plus Ltd, the Nigerian Security Printing and Minting Plc and Secure ID Ltd, were involved in the final race for a possible selection.

NAFDAC prosecutes trader over production of unregistered Custard


A Federal High Court in Lagos on Tuesday granted bail to a trader, Christopher Nduka, 42, standing trial for alleged production of unregistered custard.

Nduka, who is being prosecuted by the National Agency for Food, Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC), is facing a two-count charge of production of unregistered consumer product.

However, the accused pleaded not guilty to the charge.

Justice John Tsoho granted the accused bail in the sum of one million naira with one surety in like sum.
