The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) in Sokoto
State said that it seized 1445.901 kg of cocaine and other psychotropic drugs
between January and November, 2014.
Its zonal Commander, Alhaji Misbahu Idris, made the
disclosure when he previewed its 2014 activities in Sokoto on Friday.
He said out of the seized substances, 814.065 kg were
cannabis sativa, while cough syrup with codeine accounted for 572.872 kg.
In the same vein, 58.958 kg were psychotropic substances,
while Cocaine accounted for 6.5 kg.
Idris said that 120 suspects were arrested out of which 26
were convicted, 24 pending in courts, and 70 released after counselling and
rehabilitation.
He restated the commitment of the agency to trudge on with
the drugs war to rid the society of its myriad of consequences.
