A tenant, Nengak Monday, has dragged his landlord, Danjuma
Goshit, before an Upper Area Court, Pankshin, Plateau, for alleged enticement
of his wife.
Monday also sued his wife, Hanatu, for allegedly stealing 16
bags of his maize.
Goshit of Vel Area, Pankshin Town, is being tried for
enticement contrary to Section 389 of the Penal Code.
The complainant told the court that his wife packed out of
his house and went away with 16 bags of maize.
Monday said he was surprised that his wife did not pack out
to her father’s house, neither did she contacted him on phone.
According to him, he only got to know after some months that
his wife had been visiting his landlord.
``My Lord, one faithful day, I was privileged to know that
she was in town and had even visited my landlord.
``When I confronted him, the landlord told me that Hanatu
was in her father’s house.
``Unfortunately, when I got to her father’s house, the
father denied harbouring her; which prompted me to report the matter to the
police,” he told the court.
He said after the police arrested the landlord, he
immediately phoned his wife, who appeared at the police station within 20
minutes.
When the court asked the Landlord whether what Monday said
was true, he said that Hanatu only visited his family because of their good
relationship.
Monday, however told the court that he was no longer
interested in the union and urged the court to dissolve the marriage.
The presiding officer, Yakubu Garma, said he could not grant
the request because Hanatu was not in the court.
Garma adjourned the case until Jan. 26, for her to respond
to the allegations.
