President Jonathan pays surprise visit to soldiers in Mubi, Vimtim



Aftermath of the successes recorded by troops of the Nigerian military in the battle to dislodge hundreds of Boko Haram terrorists from swaths of Adamawa State communities, President Goodluck Jonathan Thursday paid a surprise visit to Mubi and Vimtim with a view to boosting the moral of the troops and assuring them that the federal government was fully behind appreciative of their gallantry.

Security sources hinted that on sighting the president, morale of the troops went high especially when he told them that the prestige of the Nigerian military which was never in doubt particularly regarding the fight against insurgency is now receiving praise all over.


It will be recalled that troops supported by firepower of the Nigerian Airforce, prosecuting the war from the Adamawa state end of the North East, have succeeded in clearing scores of Boko Haram terrorists from 7 Local government Areas out of 8 LGA’s hitherto  troubled by the terrorists including Mubi, Michika, Hong and Maiha LG’s.

Vanguard was told that the Service Chiefs of the Army and Airforce accompanied the President while security was tightened for the visit.

The President was said to have further assured the troops that more equipment needed to ensure that the terrorism menace was wiped out was on the way even as he reiterated  plans by his administration to provide succour for those whom got injured in battle as well as the families of those who lost their lives.
