Entrances to many filling stations in Lagos and other parts of the country remained shut to motorists on Monday following a sharp drop in the supply of petrol to the market.

Findings by The Mega StarNews revealed that oil marketers were no longer interested in importing the product mainly because of the rising exchange rate of the dollar to the Naira.

Opposition leaders behind fuel scarcity, says Mu’azu

National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, Adamu Mu’aazu, on Monday alleged that the current fuel scarcity in the country was sponsored by some opposition leaders.

Mu’azu, in a series of tweets on his official Twitter page, alleged that the opposition leaders and some vested interests were behind the hoarding of fuel which, according to him, was responsible for fuel scarcity in the country.

New fuel price: DPR seals 10 petrol stations in Kwara

The Department of Petroleum Resources (DPR) on Tuesday shut down 10 petrol stations in Ilorin, the Kwara capital, for refusing to dispense fuel at the new rate of N87 per litre.

The Federal Government had on Sunday night reduced petrol pump price from N97 to N87 per litre.

The Operation Controller of the DPR in Kwara, Mr Amos Jokodola, who led the enforcement team, said the excuse given by the affected stations for failure to comply with government's directive was unacceptable.
