Woman bites off rapist’s manhood in Lagos

A rapist has met his waterloo in Lagos as the lady he wanted to rape ended up biting off the cap of his penis.

The incident was reported to have happened when a man took his girlfriend to his friend’s house.

While a few hours later, the lady ran out screaming for help, saying she had been raped,  not long after the man, with blood all over his body, also ran out crying for help.

How 52-year-old grandmother gave birth to baby with traditional beads in Lagos

For Mrs. Funke Adamson, a 52-year-old grandmother and her relations, wow has been the word as she was delivered of a baby girl clutching white ‘Ileke’ (Yoruba name for beads) on her hands.

Despite adopting several family planning strategies, Funke, a traditional worshipper said she was delivered of the baby on Monday, May 11, 2015 at a Trado-medical home in Apapa.

Lagos aims to generate N1b from carnival


The Chief Organiser of 2015 Lagos State Carnival, Mr Adeogun Adeola, has projected that Saturday’s (today) carnival involving elaborate costumes, pomp and pageantry would generate N1 billion to government’s purse.

Adeola, also the Special Adviser to the Lagos State Commissioner for Tourism, said this in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Lagos.

The 2015 Lagos State Carnival will be held at the Tafawa Balewa Square in Lagos from 6.30 a.m. on May 9.

Two men charged with mugging woman at Lagos ATM point

Two men were on Tuesday brought before a Tinubu Magistrates' Court in Lagos for allegedly mugging a woman at knifepoint and stabbing a man at an Automated Teller Machine (ATM) point.

The duo -- John Luka, 21, and Bulus Amos, 23 -- who did not give details of their occupations and residential addresses, are
facing a three-count charge bordering on conspiracy and assault occasioning harm.

The prosecutor, Insp. Livinus Okeke told the court that the accused committed the offences at 12.30p.m. on May 2 at the ATM of Union Bank, Ojomu Market, Lekki, Lagos.

Lagos records 12,120 rape cases in 4 years, lists 140 convicts in sex offenders register


The Lagos State Government on Monday said that 140 convicted sex offenders had been recorded in a Sex Offenders' Register created by the state government to shame offenders and serve as deterrent.

Mr Ade Ipaye, Attorney-General and Commissioner of Justice made the disclosure at the 2015 Ministerial Press Briefing in Ikeja.

He said that the state had recorded no fewer than 12, 120 rape cases and other sexual violence matters in the last four years, describing such acts as threats to dignity and humanity.

According to him, the government is doing its best to address the problem through the law and other means.

Giving other statistics, Ipaye said that it had sentenced 5,834 offenders to community service for various offences in the last four years.

Lagos cancels restriction of movement for April sanitation exercise

There would be no restriction of movement from 7 a.m. to 10 a.m. for the monthly sanitation holding tomorrow in Lagos State.

The State Commissioner for Information, Mr Aderemi Ibirogba made the announcement on Friday in Ikeja while speaking with newmen.


He said the government suspended the restriction to enable pupils sitting for the National Common Entrance examinations holding on the same day to move freely to their centres.

The state usually imposed restriction on the last Saturday of every month to enable the residents of the state to clean their environment.

APC panicking over Agbaje’s chances of winning Lagos Guber poll – Fani-Kayode

Director of Media and Publicity of the Peoples Democratic Party Presidential Campaign Organisation, Chief Femi Fani-Kayode, has faulted the allegations by the All Progressives Congress that President Goodluck Jonathan has strategised to rig Saturday governorship election in Lagos State in favour of PDP candidate, Mr Jimi Agbaje.

He said the APC is in panic mode “because it knows that Agbaje is going to win the election.”

Fani-Kayode, in a statement on Friday in Abuja, said this was the first time in 16 years that the APC, together with the opposition tendencies it represents, was facing a formidable challenge from a governorship candidate of the PDP in the state.

He said, “It is not true that the President has any rigging plan for Lagos and neither do we need any such plan because our party is very strong there.

Jonathan’s meeting with Agbaje, Adams, Obanikoro in Lagos is on how to rig guber election to avenge his defeat- APC

The All Progressives Congress has raised the alarm over President Goodluck Jonathan’s unannounced visit to Lagos State a day to the governorship election.

National Publicity Secretary of the APC, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, in a statement, wondered why Jonathan arrived in Lagos late on Thursday.

He said Jonathan had a closed-door meeting with the Peoples Democratic Party governorship candidate, Mr. Jimi Agbaje; the Minister of State for Foreign Affairs II, Musiliu Obanikoro; and the National Coordinator of the Oodua Peoples Congress, Gani Adams.

Mohammed alleged that the meeting was obviously to strategise on how to manipulate the polls.

He said Jonathan was using the general perception, that he is a ‘good sportsman’, to deceive Nigerians.

Man lands in court for defacing Jimi Agbaje’s posters in Lagos

 A 29-year-old man, Fisayo Olomojobi, who allegedly defaced posters of the PDP governorship candidate in Lagos State, Jimi Agbaje, was on Wednesday charged before an Ebute Meta Chief Magistrates' Court.

The accused, who lives at No. 2, Amen St., off Abule-Oja, Yaba, is being tried on a three-count charge of conspiracy, breach of peace and unlawful damage.

Court cancels movement restriction on Lagos monthly sanitation day

A Federal High Court in Ikoyi, Lagos State, southwest Nigeria, presided over by Justice Mohammed Idris, has nullified the restriction of movement during the monthly environmental sanitation in the state.

The policy of the Lagos State Government restricts citizens to their homes for three hours between 7am and 10am every last Saturday of the month.

The court held that there is no law in force in Lagos State by which any citizen could be kept indoors, compulsorily.

This is because, few years after Cynthia Osokogwu, the daughter of a retired military officer, was allegedly lured to Lagos by her Facebook lover, drugged, raped and murdered in Festac Town, another Facebook lover has reportedly died in Lagos.


The latest victim, identfied as Adekemi Faboro, who teaches at a private nursery and primary school, in Ojota, died in Ogba area of Lagos last weekend while on a date with her married Facebook lover, Christopher Ezekiel, for the first time.

Lagos set to power 172 schools with solar

The Lagos State Governor, Babatunde Fashola has said the state government had commenced a process to connect 172 public schools in the state to the solar power.

Fashola made the remark at the presentation of corporate social responsibility awards to 424 individuals, civil society groups and corporate bodies, for their contributions to primary and secondary schools in the state.

``One of the things that have failed primary and secondary schools in Lagos state is regular and uninterrupted electricity supply.

Fayose criticises planned Lagos APC 1-million-man march, insists Buhari was in UK for medical treatment

The Ekiti State Governor, Ayodele Fayose, has described the planned One-Million-Man march by the All Progressives Congress in Lagos as a “plot by the party to cause chaos and pandemonium in the state.”

He also said that by Muhmmadu Buhari’s own admission, he had been proven right that the APC presidential candidate travelled to the United Kingdom for medical reasons.

Lagos residents, traders call for return of cart pushers

Residents and traders in various parts of the Lagos metropolis are clamouring for the return of cart pushers, to enhance evacuation of refuse in the state.

It would be recalled that the Lagos Waste Management Authority (LAWMA) in 2010 outlawed the operations of the cart pushers in the state.

The authority had alleged that the cart pushers were responsible for the indiscriminate dumping of refuse in unauthorised places in the state.

Molade Okoya-Thomas laid to rest in Lagos

The body of the late Molade Okoya-Thomas was on Friday laid to rest at the Vaults and Gardens, Ikoyi, Lagos, where his remains was lowered into the grave at 5.49 p.m.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that many eminent personalities were on hand to pay their last respect to the late philanthropist.

Earlier, at a service at Holy Cross Cathedral, Catholic Mission Street, Lagos, Rt. Rev. John Aniagwu advised the congregation to wipe their tears and celebrate the departed soul.

Fuel scarcity bites harder in Lagos, Abuja, others

Motorists queued for fuel 
Entrances to many filling stations in Lagos and other parts of the country remained shut to motorists on Monday following a sharp drop in the supply of petrol to the market.

Findings by The Mega StarNews revealed that oil marketers were no longer interested in importing the product mainly because of the rising exchange rate of the dollar to the Naira.

Alcoholic stupor, hemp-smoking crash 2-year-old marriage in Lagos

After about two years of irreconcilable differences orchestrated by the husband’s excessive alcoholism and hemp smoking, a Lagos court on Tuesday dissolved the marriage between Segun Falaye and his wife, Celestina.

A Lagos suburb Igando Customary Court ordered that the couple should cease to be husband and wife immediately.
