Adeboye to pray for Buhari, Jonathan in Abuja on Sunday

President Goodluck Jonathan and his successor-in-waiting, Muhammadu Buhari, are likely to meet the General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God in Abuja tomorrow, during which the man of God will pray for two of them.

The event is the annual “Day out with God of Daddy G.O.”, which is taking place at the International Conference Centre, Abuja at 5pm on Sunday and to be attended by other top-ranking Nigerian political, business and religious leaders.

The event, according to the organisers, is meant to provide an avenue for Adeboye to pray for outgoing President Jonathan and the President-elect, Buhari, and his new administration, which is coming at a time of great socio-economic challenges that require the prayers and support of all Nigerians to succeed.

President Jonathan leads physical training exercise in Abuja today

While the APC led by Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu would be leading a one-million man road walk today in Lagos, President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan is also expected today, Saturday 7 March, to lead government officials as well as sportsmen and women on an out-door physical training exercise in Abuja aimed at promoting sports and fitness in Nigeria.

According to a statement signed by Special Adviser to the President (Media and Publicity), Reuben Abati the training exercise, which will start at 7.00 am, will include a long walk from the Presidential Villa by President Jonathan accompanied by top government officials, Presidential aides, political associates, leading sports personalities and enthusiasts.

A suspected child kidnapper, Bola Adesina who abducted a 5-year-old boy, one Ahmed and attempted to ferry him from Ogun State to Kaduna State, was nabbed after the boy raised an alarm in a vehicle in which he was travelling with his abductor.

LEADERSHIP Friday learnt that Adesina, an Okada rider based in Shagamu Ogun State, carried Ahmed in his Okada on a commercial ride in the town but later loaded him into a luxurious bus travelling to Abuja for onward delivery to his client based in Kaduna, one Iya Oyibo.

Court dismisses Daniel’s suit against EFCC

An Abuja High Court on Wednesday dismissed a suit filed by former governor of Ogun State, Gbenga Daniel, against the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, demanding N200 million compensation for the alleged violation of his fundamental human rights.

Dismissing the suit, Justice Folasade Ojo held that the EFCC acted within the limits of its statutory powers, when it arrested and detained the former governor.

Ojo held that Section 6 of the EFCC Establishment Act 2004 confers on the commission the powers to investigate and prosecute economic and financial crimes.
