5,000 PDP members defect to APC in Kaduna

Alhaji Abubakar Rilwanu, Vice Chairman (one) of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for Kaduna North Senatorial District, says more than 5,000 members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) have defected to the APC in the area.

Rilwanu disclosed this in an interview with NAN on Wednesday in Zaria, Kaduna State.

Rilwanu, who is also the party’s Zonal Chairman for Kaduna North senatorial district, said the defectors had formally joined the APC during the gubernatorial campaign rally in the zone which ended on Monday.


“Only APC has the platform that will facilitate credible political future for Nigeria.

“More people have indicated interest to join the party while host of others pledged to take the party to victory while in PDP.

“Glory be to God, we have successfully concluded governorship campaign rally in zone one and we appreciate the support received from party members and well meaning people from the zone.”

On lthe eadership rocking the party in Zaria and Sabongari local government areas of the state, Rilwanu said the party had already resolved the crises.

He, however, urged all eligible voters in the zone to ensure they obtain their permanent voter cards that would guarantee their civic right in the forthcoming elections.

NAN reports that the defectors include former Secretary to Kaduna State Government, Sama’ila Yakawada, immediate past chairmen of Kudan and Sabongari local government councils, Umar Mairakumi and Abubakar Mohammed, respectively, among others.
