ALERT! OPC members unleash terror on motorists with APC stickers in Lagos, demand Jega’s sack



Members of the Odua People’s Congress, OPC and the Goodluck Jonathan Campaign Organisation went on rampage in Lagos on Monday as they took to major roads in support of the re-election of President Goodluck Jonathan.

The OPC members, who gathered at the 7UP/Toll Gate end of the expressway, led other protesters, who were chanting anti-Jega songs, giving reasons why the Chairman, Independent National Electoral Commission, Prof. Attahiru Jega, should be sacked before the March 28 elections.

INEC to engage 34,000 ex-corp members for polls

About 34,000 members of the National Youth Service Corps who recently passed out would be deployed to participate in the forthcoming general elections scheduled for March 28 and April 11, the Director-General of the NYSC, Brig-Gen. Johnson Olawumi, has said.

He also stated that the NYSC had put in place a watertight strategy to guarantee the safety of corps members taking part in the elections.

Olawumi spoke on Friday in Abuja during a news conference ahead of President’s NYSC Honours Award ceremony scheduled for Monday, March 2 which has been approved by President Goodluck Jonathan.

House of Reps Defection: APC now has 181 members, PDP, 156

Six Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) members of the House of Representatives on Tuesday defected to other political parties particularly that of the main opposition party, the All Progressives Congress (APC).

With the latest defections, APC now has 181 members, the highest number of lawmakers in the House. It is followed by PDP with 156 members and other political parties, 23 members.

5,000 PDP members defect to APC in Kaduna

Alhaji Abubakar Rilwanu, Vice Chairman (one) of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for Kaduna North Senatorial District, says more than 5,000 members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) have defected to the APC in the area.

Rilwanu disclosed this in an interview with NAN on Wednesday in Zaria, Kaduna State.

Rilwanu, who is also the party’s Zonal Chairman for Kaduna North senatorial district, said the defectors had formally joined the APC during the gubernatorial campaign rally in the zone which ended on Monday.

4,000 PDP members defect to APC in Sokoto

More than 4,000 members of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in Isa Local Government Area of Sokoto State have defected to the All Progressive Congress, APC.

The new members were received into the APC fold in Isa by Gov. Aliyu Wamakko.

Wamakko, who was represented by the state’s Commissioner for Agriculture, Alhaji Arzika Tureta, commended them for their action.

``APC is the party to beat across Nigeria during the 2015 general elections,’’ he said.
