N1.1bn subsidy-fraud: EFCC re-arraigns 3 oil marketers

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) on Friday re-arraigned three oil marketers--- Opeyemi Ajuyah, Abdullahi Alao and Olarenwaju Olalusi-- over an alleged N1.1 billion fuel-subsidy fraud.

The defendants were charged before Justice Lateefa Okunnu of an Ikeja High Court.

They were re-arraigned on an amended eight-count charge alongside their companies--- Majope Investment Ltd., and Axenergy Ltd.

Kashamu drags NDLEA, EFCC, others to court over extradition plot

Peoples Democratic Party senator-elect for Ogun East Senatorial District, Mr. Buruji Kashamu, has dragged the Chairman, National Drug Law Enforcement Agency and 11 others to court over an alleged plot to extradite him to the United States of America to face trial on alleged drug-related offences.

Kashamu, who instituted a fundamental rights enforcement action before a Federal High Court in Lagos, is seeking a declaration that the move  to abduct and forcibly transport him to the United States of America amounted to a violation of his  rights to liberty, freedom of association and freedom of movement as protected by sections 35, 40 and 41 of the Constitution

He alleged that the plot was a  further move in the the political designs of former President Olusegun Obasanjo to ensure that he (Kashamu) was denied the opportunity of enjoying the mandate freely given to him to represent the people of Ogun East Senatorial District  in the Senate.

Money laundering: Court orders EFCC to release Fani-Kayode’s passport


A Federal High Court, Judge has ordered the Economic and Finance Crime Commission, EFCC, to release the international travelling passport of Femi Fani-Kayode, the former minister of Aviation and the Chief Media Officer of the Presidential Organisation.

At last, EFCC declares ex-Adamawa Governor, Murtala Nyako, son, wanted


 A former governor of Adamawa State, Murtala Nyako, has been declared wanted by the anti- graft agency, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission [EFCC].

Also wanted by the EFCC is the son of the ex-governor, Abdul Aziz Murtala Nyako, a retired Naval officer.

Court dismisses Daniel’s suit against EFCC

An Abuja High Court on Wednesday dismissed a suit filed by former governor of Ogun State, Gbenga Daniel, against the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, demanding N200 million compensation for the alleged violation of his fundamental human rights.

Dismissing the suit, Justice Folasade Ojo held that the EFCC acted within the limits of its statutory powers, when it arrested and detained the former governor.

Ojo held that Section 6 of the EFCC Establishment Act 2004 confers on the commission the powers to investigate and prosecute economic and financial crimes.
