IPMAN in Enugu still sell petrol above N100 per litre

The members of the Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria (IPMAN) in Enugu are yet to comply with the new pump price of premium motor spirit approved by the Federal Government.

When a News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) correspondent monitored the stations on Friday, five days after the pronouncement by the Minister of Petroleum Resources, Mrs Diezani Allison-Madueke, most of the filling stations were selling the product between N100 and N105 per litre.

Circulation of new N100 begins Dec. 19, says CBN

The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) has fixed Dec. 19, 2014, to put the new commemorative N100 into circulation.

This is contained in “Countdown Calendar of The New Commemorative N100 Banknote” a publication on activities for the launch of the new banknote released by the bank in Abuja.

The bank said the circulation of the banknote, unveiled by President Goodluck Jonathan on Nov. 12, would be preceded by the launch of “Partnership Programme aimed at Banknote Equipment Manufacturers and other Machine Suppliers” on Wednesday.

The Wednesday activity, according to the bank, is to enable the manufacturers and suppliers to adapt machines and authentication devices for the new banknotes.

The publication also said that the new banknote would be sent to commercial banks, Nigeria Police Force, chambers of commerce, professional associations and cash-in-transit companies on Nov. 26.

Other activities that would also precede the circulation of the banknote, the apex bank said, were the sending of leaflet on the banknote to 1,000 Points of Sales (POS) in the country on Dec. 3 and visit to the new note on internet on Dec.10.

The bank added that a “live” film show to check the new banknote would be aired on CBN YouTube.
