Presidential Commitee on Immigration recruitment set for final phase of exercise

The Presidential Committee assigned to assist in fresh recruitment into the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) is set to hold the final phase of the exercise at all immigration state command centres nationwide from May 5 to May 7, 2015.

According to information contained in the web portal created to accomodate and manage the online recruitment process,www.nis.fedcivilservice.gov.ng, about 24, 678 applicants will participate in the final phase.

The Mega StarNews on Monday gathered that shortlisted applicants participating in this phase are to undergo physical examination, document verification and oral interview.

Clinton back in American Presidential race, set to launch bid on Sunday

Former American First Lady, Hillary Clinton, is expected to launch her long-expected campaign for the 2016 presidential race at the weekend.

The former Secretary of State will launch her bid for the Democratic nomination on Sunday, Democratic sources say, possibly via social media.

Her campaign is expected to begin with a stop in Iowa, and will initially focus on intimate events rather than large rallies.

Mrs Clinton, 67, will become the first Democratic hopeful to formally enter the race, and is widely seen as a front-runner.

The Ndigbo Cultural Society of Nigeria (NCSN) has advised the Presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Major-General Muhammadu Buhari (rtd) to withdraw from the February 14 presidential contest with immediate effect.

NCSN President, Chief Udo Udeogaranya, gave this advice in a statement made available to The Mega StarNews.

According to Udeogaranya, “If the former Head of State has any atom of nationalism, gratitude to the country, love for the nation and progress of our dear country, Nigeria, he should tow the path of statesman and extricate himself from the deceits of the APC leaders and withdraw with immediate effect from the presidential race.”

Northern yam farmers to raise N5bn for Buhari’s presidential campaign

A group of yam farmers cutting across some northern states in the country has pledged to support the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential candidate, Gen. Mohammadu Buhari’s campaign in the 2015 general elections with N5 billion.

The group disclosed this in a statement in Jos on Tuesday.

Rev. Jacob Musa, Public Relations Officer (PRO) of the farmers under the name ``Buhari-Osibajo Presidential Appeal Campaign Fund (BOPCAF), said that farmers from 10 states of the federation were planning the fund raiser.

Kwankwaso pledges to support Buhari’s 2015 presidential ambition

Gov. Rabi’u Kwankwaso of Kano has expressed his readiness to support, Gen. Muhammadu Buhari, to actualise his presidential ambition in 2015.

Kwankwaso made this known when he spoke with newsmen in Kano on Friday.

He said the election of Buhari as the presidential candidate of the APC was his success as he would continue to support him to ensure his victory in 2015.

``Just few days to the primary election, Buhari was asked if not him who else, he (Buhari) said it is kwankwaso. So, to me, it is as good as I won the election.
