Groups set to protest nude if Taraba woman governorship candidate is intimidated

Two Non-governmental Organisations, Ladies of Grace and Agape Sisters,  have threatened to protest nude on April 25 the woman governorship candidate in the Taraba governorship race is intimidated.

Mrs Jean Onuh, Coordinator of Agape Sisters, issued the threat in Abuja on Friday when she briefed reporters on the Taraba run-off election.

Onuh said Sen. Aisha Alhassan represented the interest of Nigerian women in the Taraba governorship poll holding on April 25.

She alleged that Alhassan was being intimidated by her opponents and officials of the Independent Electoral commission (INEC).

PDP state assembly candidate in Yobe defect to APC

Less than 24 hours to the governorship and state assembly elections, a People’s Democratic Party (PDP) House of Assembly candidate in Yobe, Alhaji Zanna Danani, on Friday dropped his election bid and defected to the APC.

Zanna, who defected along with several other chieftains of PDP to APC, told newsmen in Damaturu that the action was to enable them join the mainstream of the political development of the country.

I have not and will not step down for anybody, says Taraba SDP governorship candidate

The Social Democratic Party (SDP) governorship candidate in Taraba, Chief David Kente, has denied the rumour making the rounds that he has stepped down from the race.

``I want to make it clear that I have not and will not step down for anybody,” Kente said on Friday in Jalingo at a press conference.

APC VP candidate,Osinbajo gets pastors’ support

The All Progressives Congress Vice Presidential candidate, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo might be enjoying the backing of most Nigerian pastors.

At a recent visit to Soul Winning Chapel, the pastors unanimously gathered to pray for the successes of the APC in the forthcoming presidential election scheduled for March 28.

Umana, Akwa Abom APC Gov candidate promises N50,000 bursary to students

The All Progressives Congress (APC) Governorship Candidate in Akwa Ibom, Mr Umana Okon Umana, has promised to pay N50,000 bursary award per student if elected.

Umana made the promise on Wednesday in Abak Local Government area while flagging off his state-wide campaign for the February 28 General Elections.

He said that the N5,000 currently being paid to students of the state origin in tertiary institutions was grossly inadequate given the rate of inflation in the country.

`I will increase minimum wage to $350’ – AD presidential candidate

The Alliance for Democracy (AD) presidential candidate, Mr Rafiu Salau, has promised to increase workers’ minimum wage to 350 dollars (N67,200), if elected on Feb. 14.

Salau told newsmen in Abuja that labour policies would be reviewed to enable workers earn and live good life.

``The government of AD will introduce the minimum wage that will be equivalent to 350 dollars.

UPN adopts President Jonathan as its presidential candidate

The Unity Party of Nigeria (UPN) has adopted President Goodluck Jonathan as its presidential candidate for the Feb. 14 polls.

The adoption was announced at its first National Convention to elect new officers, which was held in Lagos.

It would be recalled that controversy had trailed the UPN leadership but the convention saw Dr Frederick Fasehun emerging as its National Chairman, which put paid to the internal wrangling within the party.

PDP House of Rep candidate dumps party, joins APC over Osinbajo

In a dramatic twist that has left most political watchers astonished,  a People Democratic Party (PDP) House of Representative candidate, Ms Aisha Osori, has denounced the PDP to join the All Progressives Congress (APC) after emerging winner under the PDP.

Osori made the announcement on Tuesday in Abuja while briefing newsmen at the APC national secretariat.

Osori had emerged winner at the just concluded AMAC/Bwari federal constituency primary in the Federal Capital Territory.

Victorious Buhari picks Amaechi as Vice President Candidate

After several hours of horse-trading at Victoria Island in Lagos by party leaders, the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential candidate, Muhammadu Buhari has reportedly picked the current governor of Rivers State, Rotimi Amaechi as his running mate for the next year presidential elections.

A source close to the campaign organisation of Buhari said Amaechi, a Christian from the South-oouth zone, was picked ahead of others as he was a major financing and logistic supporter of Buhari during the just concluded party’s primary to pick its presidential flag bearer.
