Guber ticket: Labour Party denies granting waiver to Maku

The Labour Party (LP) has said that it had not granted waiver to the immediate past Minister of Information, Mr Labaran Maku, to get its Nasarawa governorship ticket for the 2015 elections.

The LP National Secretary, Kayode Ajulo, made the statement in Lagos while responding to questions from journalists.

"Going by the primary conducted by our party in Nasarawa State, Hajia Aisha Mbaka, a woman who falls into the category of those exempted by the party from paying any nomination or expression of intent fees, emerged, being the sole aspirant.

Amosun clinches APC ticket as deputy eyes SDP governorship nod

Incumbent governor of Ogun State, Senator Ibikunle Amosun, on Thursday clinched the ticket of the All Progressives Congress to run for the second term in the governorship primary conducted in Abeokuta.

In a related development, his deputy, Mr. Segun Adesegun, also declared his governorship ambition on Thursday on the platform of the Social Democratic Party.

In the primary, which held under tight security, the governor polled 3,861 votes, in a contest where he is the sole aspirant.

The event was supervised by the state and national representatives of the Independent National Electoral Commission, headed by Kehinde Mustapha.

Bukky Wright battles for Reps ticket

Actress Bukky Sekinat Wright has broadened the rank of entertainers seeking elective positions in the race for the 2015 elections.

Via her Facebook page on Friday, Bukky had announced her intention to contest for a seat in Nigeria’s House of Representatives representing Abeokuta South Federal Constituency, Ogun State under the platform of newly-formed Social Democratic Party, SDP.

The actress’ choice of SDP as a platform have confounded many. Bukky was a known close associate of Otunba Gbenga Daniel, OGD, while the latter was governor of Ogun State.

They were so close that many would have expected that she would move with OGD to PDP.
