Who Are The Pastors Pestering Tope Alabi For Sex? asked PFN Official

Barely two days after ‘Ore ti o common’ Yoruba gospel singer, Tope Alabi in an interview spoke on a range of issues as well as claiming that wealthy men and some pastors have pestered her for sex before which she declined, reactions have continued to poured in.

Her allegation has sparked reactions from an official of the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria who has challenged her to substantiate her claim by naming and shaming the pastors involved.

According to the official, “it is not possible that a pastor pestered her for sex as she claimed. But she needs to come out and name such an individual in order to teach others a lesson and cleanse the body of bad eggs.”

Speaking further, the official asserted that making such an unsubstantiated claim on the pages of newspapers will not make any impact but rather bring shame to the body of Christ. “She knows the proper channel to follow to report something like that”.

Still speaking on the issue , Michael O. Awoleye, Senior Research Officer at Federal Ministry of Science & Technology, Nigeria wondered why on earth the pretty gospel singer could have made such an allegation.

“In the first instance, if Tope Alabi truly altered that statement-what for? To prove to the world she is a saint or what does she intend to gain from that? She won’t be the first and the last person to be tempted in such a way. She should rather prove to the world that her husband disvirgined her and no other man has ever touched her before. Advice for her will be to avoid distractions and maintain a focus on her ministry. Any time I listen to her songs I know God is in it.”

To Odoh Abraham, another respondent, “The fact is, if a pastor, so called or others would place such demand on her despite her claim to being a gospel artiste, that to me goes a long way to establish that her Christianity is doubtable and suspect. It is an indication that she is probably not who she claims to be-a true God fearing Christian. Only dead carcasses attract flies.”

Folaranmi Omotola of The Polytechnic Ibadan noted, “I expected her to have grown more spiritual than this! Hum God help the body of Christ...”

To you our readers, what do you make of the reaction of this official especially as it regards naming the pastors involved – wouldn’t that lead to more controversies?
