Prostitute charged to court over N300,000 theft





An alleged sex worker, Chinyere Anuforo, who lives in Ogba area of Ikeja, is standing trial on a charge of stealing.

The Prosecutor, ASP Eranus Nnamonu, told the court that the accused committed the offence on July 3 at Botife Guest House, Oba Akran Avenue, Ikeja.

According to him, Anuforo stole the money and a Nokia mobile phone valued at N2, 500 property of Mr Chuks Ogbonnaya.

According to Nnamonu, the accused and Ogbonnaya had gone to the hotel to enjoy themselves.

“In the process, the woman stole the man’s N300, 000 and a mobile phone handset.’’

The offence, he said, contravened Section 285 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2011.

The accused pleaded not guilty and was granted bail in the sum of N50, 000 with one surety in like sum.

The accused, if found guilty, may be sentenced to three years imprisonment.
