The Olumo Progressive Association Canada Inc, a group of indigenes of Egba and Yewa in Ogun State in Diaspora, has sent congratulatory message to their home Governor, Senator Ibikule Amosun on his re-election.
In a release over the weekend signed by the association’s President, Chief Femi Shodunke and General Secretary, Mr. Lukmon Afolabi Bakare, the group said the victory was well deserved.

The indigenes, who also congratulated the people of the
state for re-electing Amosun, said they were not surprised by the decision of
the electorates to return the governor for another term.
“We congratulate you Mr. Governor on your victory. With the giant strides you have recorded in
our state since your assumption of office, particularly in the areas of roads,
industrial development, education and infrastructural development, amongst
others, you deserved another term in office,” they said.
They submitted that the decision to elect Amosun was in the
overall best interest of the state, particularly as his government would operate
under a federal government with the same party.
“No doubt, as our state and the federal governments are
under the same political party, APC, we urge your Excellency to collaborate and
synergise with the new government of Gen. Muhammadu Buhari to tap the manpower,
natural resources, economic and industrial vantage positions which Ogun State
occupies in the country,” they said.

They emphasised that the votes, which is a confirmation of
the profound belief of residents of the state in Amosun, despite the political
shenanigans against his administration, had justified the decision of their
national body, Egba National Association, to give the governor the group’s
first “Award of Excellence.”
“Definitely, the decision of Egba National Association, US
and Canada, to give you its maiden ‘Award of Excellence’ has been justified by
the victory you recorded in the last governorship election,” they said, adding:
“We are happy we took the right decision and we are proud of this initiative.”
The Olumo Progressive however, pleaded with Amosun to take
the ample advantage of his second term to consolidate on his programmes, strive
harder and complete ongoing projects on time, particularly the massive road
constructions in parts of the state.
According to them, doing so would erase the negative belief
in some quarters that second term for governors doesn’t record further
development, but a license to amass wealth at the detriment of the people and
the state in general.
“We will urge you to work harder than you did in your first
term and leave your indelible mark on the footprints of history in Ogun State
and Nigeria. And we pray Allah to guide
you throughout your second term sir,” they further stressed.
