Fayose’s Impeachment: Omirin not Ekiti Speaker, ignore him and the APC lawmakers, factional Speaker tells CJ

Factional Speaker, Ekiti State House of Assembly, Hon. Dele Olugbemi (third left), with other lawmakers while addressing newsmen in Ado-Ekiti... on Friday.

The political battle rocking Ekiti State seems to be becoming more interesting by the day.

In its bid aimed at impeaching the embattled state governor, Ayodele Fayose, the All Progressives Congress lawmakers in the Assembly, led by its Speaker, Dr. Adewale Omirin, had on Thursday asked the state Chief Judge, Justice Ayodeji Daramola to set up a panel to investigate allegations raised in the impeachment notice to the governor.

However, the impeachment saga took another twist yesterday as the factional Speaker, Ekiti State House of Assembly, Hon. Dele Olugbemi has also asked the CJ to ignore the request.

Addressing journalists on Friday in Ado Ekiti, Olugbemi said the letter directing the CJ to raise the investigative panel did not emanate from the office of the Speaker because Omirin had been impeached since November 20.

“We never wrote any letter to the Chief Judge directing him to constitute an investigative panel, neither was the House involved in any impeachment proceedings against the executive governor of our great state,” he said.

Fayose is a professional hooligan -Ekiti Speaker

Embattled Speaker of the Ekiti State House of Assembly, Adewale Omirin, has told his colleagues at the Lagos State House of Assembly that the governor of his state, Ayo Fayose, has not learnt any lessons from his fall and eventual impeachment as governor during his uncompleted first term in 2006.

He said, instead, Fayose had experience in hooliganism and that this was what he exhibited when he sponsored seven members of the House to impeach him, the Deputy Speaker, and other principal officers of the House recently.
