Mu’azu should follow British Labour Party leader’s example — Fayose

Ekiti State Governor, Mr Ayodele Fayose has justified his call for the resignation of Alhaji Adamu Mu’azu ,the national chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party ,saying Mu’azu should borrow a leaf from the resignation of British Labour Party leader, Ed Miliband and Liberal Democrats leader, Nick Clegg over their parties defeat at the poll.

In a statement issued by his Special Assistant on Public Communications and New Media, Lere Olayinka,in Ado Ekiti yesterday,Fayose said his position is premised on the issue on ground and that he had no personal score to settle with the PDP National Chairman.

Fayose tells Mu’azu: ‘I have cogent evidences of your unholy alliance with APC’

Jonathan, Fayose and Mu'azu when the going was good during one of the campaigns
With the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) still counting its loses after losing the March 28 general elections to the opposition, All Progressive Congress, APC,  the blame game has continued as Ekiti State Governor has insisted that his call for the dissolution of the Alhaji Adamu Mu’azu-led National Working Committee (NWC) of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) was in good faith.

Fayose, whom the party had blamed for causing the PDP the presidential seat over his hate campaign approach, said the Party’s Chairman, Mu’azu should resign as he has no apology on his position because their responsibility as a party does not take away their failure in the last general elections.

The governor, who also challenged the NWC to provide evidence of money released to him to prosecute the last elections, added that “only N30 million was received for the last two elections and to the glory of the Almighty God and support of Ekiti people, we won all elections outrightly. I therefore demand for the mode with which money was released to me by the NWC.”

The APC said Fayose knows that he can’t survive the revelations contained in the audio tape that caught him, senior members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and military officers allegedly plotting rigging strategies ahead of the June 21, 2014 governorship poll in the state.

Fayose is a professional hooligan -Ekiti Speaker

Embattled Speaker of the Ekiti State House of Assembly, Adewale Omirin, has told his colleagues at the Lagos State House of Assembly that the governor of his state, Ayo Fayose, has not learnt any lessons from his fall and eventual impeachment as governor during his uncompleted first term in 2006.

He said, instead, Fayose had experience in hooliganism and that this was what he exhibited when he sponsored seven members of the House to impeach him, the Deputy Speaker, and other principal officers of the House recently.

Fayose sacks Speaker’s aides

Ekiti State Government on Tuesday terminated the appointment of all aides to the Speaker and Deputy Speaker of the State House of Assembly.

This is contained in a statement issued by the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Dr. Modupe Alade in Ado-Ekiti.

Those relieved of their appointment include Messrs Wole Olujobi, Special Adviser (SA) (Media), Ojobamikan Dele, SA (Political) and Lawrence Awelewa, SA (Special Duties) to the Speaker.

Also on the list are Messrs Wande Omirin, SA (Youth Matters), Orija Samuel, Chief of Staff, and Sanmi Adeeko, PA to the Speaker.

Others are Mr Taiwo Oluwaleye, SA (Media) to the Deputy Speaker, and Adedipe Esther, SA (Media) to the Majority Leader.

The statement directed all the affected aides to hand over all government property in their possession to the Clerk of the House before the close of office on Tuesday.

In another development, Ekiti state government denied claims by the All Progressives Congress (APC) that Ekiti state Speaker, Dr. Adewale Omirin had been impeached.

Chief Press Secretary to Gov Ayo Fayose, Mr Idowu Adelusi said in a statement that the legislature, by its rules, forms a quorum with nine members, ``and 10 were at the sitting and not seven as the APC had claimed.’’

``Fayose was never near the Assembly Complex and Nigerians should ask APC leaders why they are always the ones that are right and others are wrong.

``In the APC-controlled state of Edo, Gov. Adams Oshiomhole has shut down the assembly for many months now.

``APC lawmakers hold their meetings in the governor's bedroom at Osadebay Avenue, GRA, Benin. Nothing is wrong with that as the PDP members have been shut out!

``In another APC state of Rivers, courts have been shut down for over a year.

``Gov. Rotimi Amaechi wanted to appoint his man as the Chief Judge of the state and nothing is still wrong with that’’, added the statement.

It would be recalled that the National Publicity Secretary of the APC, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, had in a statement said the Speaker, Dr. Adewale Omirin, had been impeached.

Mohammed had alleged that seven PDP members in the House impeached the Speaker.

7 PDP lawmakers sacks Ekiti Speaker, appoints protem speaker

    * …… okay Fayose’s commissioner-nominees

There was a sudden twist of events in the Ekiti State House of Assembly as the seven  Peoples Democratic Party’s lawmakers on Monday dramatically sacked the Speaker, Dr. Adewale Omirin.

Sitting under the watch of armed policemen stationed at the Assembly with an Armor Personnel Carrier blocking the entrance to the Assembly as early as 7 am, the lawmakers  appointed Dele Olugbemi as Protem Speaker to preside over the plenary.

The PDP lawmakers cited the absence of the Speaker, Dr. Adewale Omirin, and his deputy, Taiwo Orisalade, as reasons for the appointment of the Acting Speaker for the day’s business.

Although the PDP has seven members in the Assembly, 10 persons attended the plenary on Monday including three whose identities remained unknown as of press time.

But the All Progressives Congress maintained that only seven members of the Assembly, mainly PDP members, sat at the plenary when it required nine members to form a quorum.

Special Adviser to the Speaker, Wole Olujobi had cried out, “Just now, Governor Fayose has provided about 300 policemen escorted by armoured cars to lead seven members of PDP to conduct a sitting approving the caretaker committees in the local govts.”

According to Olujobi, “House does not sit on Mondays. Mondays are for parliamentary. The seven members do not form a quorum to have legal right to sit in the plenary, which of course does not hold on Monday.

“By this action, Governor Fayose is dragging our state to the mud. Let us call Ekiti to verify this claim as policemen lay siege to the Assembly Complex."

Meanwhile, the Speaker has also vowed to challenge all the decisions taken by the PDP Caucus in court.
In a statement by its State Publicity Secretary, Taiwo Olatunbosun, in Ado-Ekiti, the party accused Fayose of compelling the seven-member PDP caucus to sit and do his bidding.

The statement reads, “In his characteristic manner, Fayose this morning went to the hallowed chamber in company of armed soldiers and policemen, dreadfully garbed, and unleashed terror on the innocent assembly workers, forced his way in and compelled his 7-man PDP house members to sit and do his bidding.

“We condemn the act in its entirety and we call on all well-meaning Nigerians to support our clarion call to call Governor Fayose to order. We have not minced words to point out the series of constitutional infringements being committed by Fayose as Ekiti State Governor and this is just one in many. We are cocksure that this impunity will not stop.

“We also learnt that realising that it would require nine members to form a quorum in a 26-member house, Fayose also brought some strange men into the hallowed chamber to impersonate Honourable Assembly members in his attempt at ensuring a constituted quorum.

“He insisted that they must appoint a speaker among them and go ahead with legislative matters, forgetting that the house doesn’t hold plenaries on Monday. How bad can an impunity be?

“We condemn in categorical terms Fayose’s lawlessness and executive recklessness. His bully and arm-twisting tactics know no bounds and he is acting like an emperor who cannot be stopped. He has hijacked and pocketed the Judiciary and he believes there is nothing stopping him from taking over the legislative functions, as long as his gun-totting soldiers are at his beck and call.”

The PDP caucus at the plenary confirmed the appointment of three commissioner nominees.

They are Owoseni Ajayi, Commissioner for Justice and Attorney General; Mr. Kayode Oso as Commissioner for Works and Transport, and Chief Toyin Ojo as Commissioner for Finance.
It also approved the list of the Caretaker Committees for the 16 Local Governments.

The House has been taken over by the police.
