Ebola: Leadership Watch honours Onyebuchi, Adadevoh, others

For successfully combating the spread of the much dreaded Ebola Virus Disease in Nigeria, Leadership Watch, a non-governmental organization has listed some key actors who helped to mitigate the spread of Ebola Virus in the country for special Award.

The Award ceremony, scheduled for December 5, 2014 at the Golden Gate, Alfred Rewane Road, Ikoyi Lagos under the distinguished chairmanship of Mr. Tunji Oyebanji, Chairman/CEO, Mobil Oil Producing Nigeria, will single out few Nigerians and Corporate bodies who displayed rare courage and professional competence in arresting the spread of Ebola Virus Disease in Nigeria.
This is in an effort to promote leadership role models in our society.


The Award, in various categories ,will see the former Minister of Health, Professor Onyebuchi Chukwu being conferred with the prestigious Excellence in Leadership Award.
The Federal Ministry of Health and First Consultant Medical Centre will share the same award in corporate category whereas the Lagos State Commissioner for Health, Dr. Jide Idris will be honored in individual category.

First Consultant Hospital, the hospital which was the first port of call for the Liberian citizen, Patrick Sawyer that transmitted the Ebola Virus into Nigeria, will be honoured for the patriotic and professional manner they handled the case. Dr. Ameyo Stella Adadevoh, a Senior Consultant at the First Consultant Hospital and professional per excellence who paid the supreme price while carrying out her professional duty will receive a posthumous award for sacrificial commitment to duty. Some others will also be appreciated for their effort in their different roles to stop the spread of Ebola Virus in Nigeria.

 According to Dr. Martins P. Iwuanyanwu, President Leadership Watch while speaking on behalf of the Governing Council said, “the Awards being conferred on the Honorees are in recognition of the resilience, professionalism and commitment to duty which became their hallmark in their various responsibilities as government functionaries and as professionals. Nigerians and indeed the entire world are elated by the courage and dexterity with which they managed and contained the outbreak of the deadly Ebola virus in Nigeria”.

Dr Iwuanyanwu also said that all the honorees have accepted to be so honoured by the group and indicated willingness to grace the occasion.
