The Nigerian pair of Vincent Enyeama and Ahmed Musa have
made the shortlist of five for the 2014 African Footballer of the Year award.
Caf announced the five-man shortlist, and Enyeama and Musa
survived the chop in an initial 25-man list released by the African football
governing body in November.
However, the Nigerian duo will have to contend with Ghana
captain Asamoah Gyan, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang of Gabon and the current
African Footballer of the Year, Yaya Toure.
The African football apex is expected to release the final
shortlist of three for the 2014 African Footballer of the Year before the
Glo-Caf Awards in Lagos on 8 January.
Another Nigerian who was shortlisted in the African
Footballer of the Year (based in Africa), Ejike Uzoenyi, failed to make the
final five.
The former Enugu Rangers man, now on the books of South
African club, Mamelodi Sundowns, will only watch as the ES Setif duo of, Akram
Djahnit and El Hedi Belameiri go up against Congo's Firmin Ndombe Mubele, Fakhreddine
Ben Youssef of Tunisia and late South African captain and goalkeeper, Senzo
Meyiwa.

•Vincent Enyeama (Nigeria & LOSC Lille)
•Asamoah Gyan (Ghana & Al Ain)
•Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang (Gabon & Borussia Dortmund)
