A sales representative, Chukwuka Emmanuel, who allegedly
stole his employer's N10 million, was on Wednesday charged before a Yaba Chief
Magistrates' Court in Lagos.
Emmanuel, 26, who resides at Abule-Ado, Satellite Town in
Lagos, is facing a two-count charge of conspiracy and stealing.
The prosecutor, Abraham Fadipe, told the court that the
accused committed the offences on Nov. 14, at Nippon Furniture and Steel
Company Ltd, Lagos.
Fadipe explained that the accused colluded with one Obinna
Okoro, who is still at large, and lured customers of the company to make
payments for jobs in their personal accounts.
He said that the accused left the company and absconded
after a total of N10million was paid into his account by the company’s clients.
The prosecutor said that the offences committed contravened
Sections 409 and 285 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2011.
Emmanuel, however, entered a plea of not guilty.
Section 285 provides three years imprisonment for anyone
found liable of stealing.
The Magistrate, Mrs Bola Folarin-Williams, granted the
accused N250,000 bail with two sureties in like sum and adjourned the case till
Jan. 25 for mention.
