2015 elections: Fayose urges youths to be agents of change

Gov. Ayo Fayose of Ekiti State on Monday said the Nigerian youths must  see themselves as the vehicle of change needed by the nation, especially during the 2015 general elections.

Fayose made the call during the closing-ceremony of 2014 Batch 'C' corps members held at the state permanent orientation camp, Ise-Ekiti, in Ise/Orun Local Government Area of the state.

The governor, who was represented by his wife, Mrs Feyisetan Fayose, said the 2015 general elections were so crucial to the nation and that everything must be done for its successful conduct.

He said that Nigerian youths could not afford to fail the nation at this period of time.

"I charge the Nigerian youths to see themselves as instruments of change, as we approach the election year because they can not fail the nation at this point in time.

"I charge you to do all that is necessary with the laws, for the success and peaceful conduct of the 2015 general elections," Fayose said.

He said that the unity of the nation should be paramount to the youths in all their dealings.

The governor also advised corps members, especially those posted to the state, to contribute to the development of their host communities.

Fayose assured them of their safety during the service year, warning them against involving in activities that could endanger their lives.

He said the current administration would make sure that all the promises made to improve the facilities on the camp would be fulfilled.

"My administration will make sure that all the promises we make on this orientation camp are fulfilled before the coming-in of the 2015 batch 'A' orientation programmes.

Earlier, the State NYSC Coordinator, Mr Chidube Ibeh, thanked the state government for its cooperation at all times.

He assured the government that corps members would always contribute  to the development of the state.
