A major independent petroleum marketer in Kano, Alhaji
Auwalu Rano, has slashed price of kerosene from N140 to N110 per litre.
The Manager, A.A Rano Petroleum at Yankaba, Kano, Alhaji
Lawal Sabo, disclosed this in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria
(NAN) in Kano on Monday.
According to him, the company has directed all its
subsidiary filling stations across the country to sell the commodity at uniform
rate.
He attributed the reduction in the price to the fall of oil
price in the world market.
``’The company decided to reduce the price to the present
rate in order to conform with the prevailing trend.''
He expressed the hope that other marketers would emulate AA
Rano, to alleviate the sufferings of the common man particularly rural
dwellers, for them to get the commodity with ease.
NAN checks revealed that the prices of kerosene had gone
down across the state following the improvement of its supply in the state.
Other filling stations have also reduced their prices from
N150 to between N125 and N130 per litre.
However, black marketers have also slashed their prices from
N175 to N150 per litre.
A cross section of black marketers said they reduced the
price because they bought the commodity from filling stations at cheaper rates.
