NIGERIANS SAY NO TO ELECTION POSTPONEMENT

It is getting clearer by the day that those who have suddenly become apostles of elections postponement are either having something to hide or are just jittery of losing out in the forth-coming elections.

Hence, they are sponsoring people to protest and call for postponement just to strategize for rigging.
Those that are justifying the postponement because many Nigerians are yet to collect their PERMANENT VOTERS CARDS, PVC should know that INEC cannot force people to pick up their PVCs.

No law or constitution mandates every Nigerian to collect his or her PVC and vote. Those that want to vote should pick their PVCs.

500 young Nigerians study every year in Germany --- Envoy

The German Ambassador to Nigeria, Mr Michael Zenner, on Tuesday said that annually about 500 Nigerian youths were given opportunity to study in German universities by his country’s government.

Zenner told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Lagos that the beneficiaries were offered admissions to study in the different universities on scholarships and through self-sponsorship.

``Under the Germany Educational Exchange Services, 500 young Nigerians study every year in our different universities.

``These Nigerians go to Germany partly on scholarships or through self-sponsorship.

``And from experience so far, I am impressed with the number of Nigerians who did their research work in German educational institutions,’’ he said.

The envoy said that his government also gave such Nigerians the option of whether to come back after their studies or work in Germany.

Zenner said that for any Nigerian to benefit from the exchange programme, he or she should first learn to read in and speak German language.

The ambassador disclosed that the German government’s plan was to create the right learning environment for Nigerians in its institutions.

Zenner also said that plans were underway by the government to partner some Nigerian universities in the learning of German language.

``Nigeria really matters to the German government and we want more Nigerians to come and study in Germany.

Defend yourselves against Boko Haram, Emir of Kano tells Nigerians

The Emir of Kano, Muhammadu Sanusi II, has urged Nigerians to brace up and defend themselves against the Boko Haram sect which has been mounting a bloody campaign against Nigerians, killing hundreds and overrunning territories.

The royal father made the call while making the closing remarks at the weekly recitation of the Holy Qu’ran as part of prayers for peace in the country, Sanusi urged religious and community leaders to undertake the immediate task of re-infusing courage in their people, particularly the youth, in order to prepare for self defence against Boko Haram attacks.

“These people”, the Emir recounted in Hausa and referring to Boko Haram, “when they attack towns, they kill boys and enslave girls… People must stand resolute. ”

He reminded the congregation of Muslim clerics, who came from various Islamic schools in Kano, of the saying of the Holy Prophet (PBUH) that whoever dies in defence of his country, family, life or wealth was a martyr.

“People must not assume that the crisis will not reach their area,” the Emir noted. “If it comes, we are asking God to give us fortitude, but if He wishes to take martyrs from amongst us, we should be ready to give our lives.

“People must not wait for soldiers to protect them. There are even instances where soldiers on ground ran away in the face of attack,” he said.

The Emir asked hunters and experts in the area of security and defence to use their expertise in the quest of seeking the pleasure of God by employing it to end the current crisis.

“God will grant us victory over them,” he said.
