Nyanya bombing mastermind Ogwuche, others face fresh charges

It appears it is not over yet for the against 29-year-old, Aminu Ogwuche and six others with whom he allegedly carried out the April 14, 2014 bombing in Nyanya, Abuja as the Federal Government has filed fresh charges him.

The accused were brought before Justice Ahmed Mohammed of a Federal High Court in Abuja but were not  arraigned because five of them had yet to get lawyers.

Why polls should not hold in February- Presidency

The Presidency has listed some of the reasons it feels that going ahead with the February dates for the general elections as scheduled by the Independent National Electoral Commission can “throw the country into turmoil and confusion.”

At last, EFCC declares ex-Adamawa Governor, Murtala Nyako, son, wanted

 A former governor of Adamawa State, Murtala Nyako, has been declared wanted by the anti- graft agency, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission [EFCC].

Also wanted by the EFCC is the son of the ex-governor, Abdul Aziz Murtala Nyako, a retired Naval officer.

Group makes FOI request for details of Jonathan’s doctorate degree

In what appears a fallout of the controversy triggered by the secondary school result of the presidential candidate of the opposition All progressives Congress, Muhammadu Buhari, a Freedom of Information (FOI) request has been sent to the University of Port Harcourt to provide relevant details of the doctorate qualifications of President Goodluck Jonathan.

Mr Buhari’s secondary school has since provided a copy of his statement of result and other eminent Nigerians who were his classmates have come out to say that they sat for the examination with him.

16 parties, 4 presidential candidates threaten boycott if general elections not postponed

Sixteen parties and four presidential candidates have called for the postponement of the general elections.

This was made known on their behalf by the presidential candidate of the United Democratic Party, UDP, Godson Okoye, on Tuesday at a news conference in Abuja.

Ambode leads Agbaje in pre-election opinion poll

The latest opinion poll released by the NOI Polls, on Tuesday has shown Akinwunmi Ambode, the All Progressives Congress, APC, candidate narrowly leading Jimi Agbaje, the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, candidate.

Chad says it killed 200 Boko Haram militants in Nigeria

Chad's army said it had killed more than 200 militants from Boko Haram on Tuesday in a battle in the northeastern Nigerian towns of Gambaru and Ngala, which are near the border with Cameroon.

Chad has deployed 2,500 troops as part of a regional effort to take on the militant group, which has been fighting for five years to create an Islamist emirate in northern Nigeria. An estimated 10,000 people died in the region last year.

REVEALED: February 14 elections may be shifted if voter card distribution too low-INEC

Nigeria may delay its Feb. 14 presidential elections if the number of permanent voters cards, PVC the electoral commission (INEC) can distribute by Feb. 8 is too low, an electoral commissioner told Reuters on Wednesday.

"Let's see how the PVC (permanent voter card) distribution goes by Feb 8, then maybe," Amina Zachary, a commissioner for the Independent Nigerian Electoral Committee said on the sidelines of a news conference, when asked whether or not the date could be changed.
